WEEK 7 - Thursday 22 October 2026

Dear Parents and carers,

Thank you to the Year 10 parents and carers who attended the Parent Information Evening on Tuesday evening that was focused on Work Experience. Careers advice and guidance form a very important part of our curriculum, and it is a valuable experience for students, especially in this day and age. Students now get careers education from Year 7 so it is a comprehensive programme. Over the past few years, the success rate of placements in Year 10 has been exceptionally high and feedback from students has been very positive.

The Year 11 mock exams have gone well so far. It has been good to see so many in school early to revise and a good number also attended after school sessions. As a year group they have a strong working culture - there are always a few exceptions of course – which has shown this week. They return after half term to the maths paper 3 on Monday 2 November 2026, straight after half term, so please encourage your child to do some revision if they are in Year 11.

Students were very appreciative of having a non-uniform day today and their clothing was appropriate so thank you for your support. On the training day with staff tomorrow, I will be going over the progress we have made as a school since January, including our Year 11 and 13 outcomes and the improvements we have made this term as well.

I would like to finish with a small but lovely moment this morning. I often stand where the buses pull in to welcome our students and say good morning. Many students say thank you to the driver which is good to hear but what stood out on this occasion was in a very enthusiastic voice, one student said “thank you driver. I hope you have a good day.” What a fantastic young man. It made my day.

Have a great half-term and I look forward to seeing your child on Monday 2 November 2026.
